The first work plan for the Gwadar International Airport was introduced in 2017. However, Construction work on the Airport began in 2019. Pakistan plans to construct a new Gwadar Airport 25km from the existing facility. According to the master plan of the airport construction of the main terminal, 4600 tons of steel structure is completed. The construction of the metal welded roof, and interior, and the installation of electromechanical equipment are underway. Main components of the airport such as the main runway, taxiways, apron, visual aids, navigational aids, air traffic control tower, radar and radio building, water works, car parking, and some ancillary buildings are being undertaken by the Chinese. The new Gwadar International Airport will be suitable for bigger aircraft like Airbus A-380 and Boeing -747, 748, and 777, etc. for international and domestic services. The new Gwadar airport will have international status and it will be run under an “Open Skies” policy and will be developed under the guidance of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The airport will provide traveling services through national and international airlines including PIA, Airblue, Muscat Airlines, and Bahraini Airlines to destinations all over the world. The airport infrastructure will also include an air traffic control (ATC) tower, fire, crash, and rescue facilities, and a fuel farm, as well as associated buildings and infrastructure to support the airport’s operations. Upcoming Gwadar International Airport positively influences its property value and real estate prices will uptick once the airport is completed and becomes fully functional. Investors have already started to invest in it. It’s a good time to invest in Gwadar. Right now, property prices are relatively lower, which signals a healthy buying period. After a few months as more public projects are developed and operationalized, the prices will soar and give higher returns on investment. First test flight in 60 days. Now set to the soft opening in March 2023, inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
